Some advice on dealing with coughs
Whether you’ve had a persistent hacking cough, or a cough that comes out of nowhere, there is a natural way to calm it. Pineapples!
Studies have shown that pineapples are up to 5x more effective than non-prescription cough medicines in controlling coughs, and that they can provide relief almost 5 times as fast. How is it possible?
Pineapples contain the powerful enzyme bromelain, which:
- dilutes phlegm and acts as an expectorant
- relieves swelling and inflammation of the mucous membranes
- destroys bacteria
- soothes an irritated throat
Pineapples not only help with coughs, but also for common colds, with runny nose, congestion, and chills –can help speed up recovery time. Pineapples contain a high amount of vitamin C which is important in fighting these symptoms.
So put some pineapple into your juicer, along with your other favorite fruits or vegetables. You can even add some honey, lemon, ginger, salt, or a pinch of chili powder. Make sure to drink this juice every day, until the symptoms disappear. Also make sure to get plenty of rest, drink lots of fluids, and stay warm.
Caution! Pineapple juice should be avoided if you have stomach ulcers, or liver or kidney problems. Also some doctors recommend staying away from pineapple during pregnancy.
